Shelley Sickness

Today: Whoa.

Well it starts this morning, driving into work. I pull out of my driveway and Shelley was very hesitant when accelerating. She shuddered slightly and was not shifting right. This was the same feeling that it had the day before after it was overheating. So I went into work this morning and I was able to get out early. I walked out of work smiling since it was my last day for the summer and it has been literally giving me nightmares while I sleep. Well, I went to go and start it and it didn't turn over. The dashboard just turned on and there was no ignition. SO, I called my mom and she called AAA for me. But it stinks because I was going to meet her at the car shop anyways. But nope, I had wait for a really creepy tow truck man to come and then since my parking lot is gated I had to get the parking maintenance people to come and open the gate for us. The tow truck man's diagnosis of Shelley's illness was a frozen engine. I was doubtful, but I am not good with cars so I agreed anyways. Thank gawd the automotive shop wasn't really far, because any trip longer than the approx 6 minutes it took to get there would be dreadful. He kept coughing from his supposed sinuses, however, the pack of cigarettes and raspy voice leads me to believe he has emphysema or some drug related sickness.  Additional note, he has disgusting yellow pointy teeth which were sticking out above his ginormous bottom lip. I was disturbed by them.  BUT he was helping me with my car, so I was nice to him. I finally made it to the shop and dropped off my car. My mom picked me up and I went home. I really hope that Shelley gets well very very soon. I need her to recover so I can move into my new apartment. :)

Happy Bug

My brother just sent this to me and its hilarious.

New Set of Windows

The lighting is bad here. However I have a new pair of glasses!!
For those of you who do not know. I wear contacts all the time but finally got a good pair of glasses. They are Diesel Brand and I am sooo not materialistic ;).
They really aren't anything special but I like them and hopefully you do as well, since I care SO much about opinions on my looks from Epeople. lol
PS. I definitely look smarter.

Chocolate Addict & Blog Readers

Along with my other addictions, I have recently been indulging in chocolate. A LOT!
I have been bringing in a bag of candy to work and sharing with my co-workers throughout the day, however, I eat so much of it. Now I am always feeling like I want chocolate. They are terrible cravings and maybe it is a sign. Maybe I am pregnant. LOL. Like that is even a possibility. As I binge on my second M&M's Peanut Mini's, I think of what else I can eat in the house with chocolate in it. Something has to be done! HELP.

Also,
I was curious on who actually reads this blog. I really don't have a set topic or schedule for blogging, so it's not like people come here everyday for Tech News or something. But if you DO read this blog, leave me a comment! I would love to hear from you. Even if you are reading this next week or in the next hour. Comment and give me your thoughts!! :) Thanks

An Extra Shot

So I haven't  blogged since Friday and it may not seem like a long time but to me it seems like forever.
Within these past few days, I have seemed to change my whole mindset and mood. I do seem to change moods very often but I really seem to be happy, upbeat, and less negative towards things.  What do I credit for this change? I have no clue. But it's weird that I finally feel like it is summer and it is already over. I might just be happy about this or that I have visited Starbucks everyday for the past week. (sometimes twice in a day)
Some may call me obsessed but it is more than just the product, its the service. In other words, it's the baristas that keep me going back. They are so amazing and so friendly. I think I have changed from a guest to a friend. I wish I could just spend all my time there and talk with them and relax, because after working all day that is really what I want to do. I usually take a book and sit outside and watch the sunset or bring my "gang" (in Barista Matt's terminology) and sit around and chit chat. I have spent more time there because I will soon be going back to school and they have been threatened to close down. So I want to soak up the last caffienated moments I have with them!
That turned out to be a long explanation, but I think that could be why I am so upbeat lately!
And when I am "down" I turn to blogging, so I will try to keep up blogging filled with positive thoughts! :)

Doggy Love

I found this dog and I am in love with it.
If anybody knows what kind it is please tell me.
Thank you.

PS. LMAO

Book Updeight

While perusing the book aisles of Target with Jenn, I was discussing how I wanted to find a new book. She said that her boss and clients at work were in love with this book series called Twilight.
We found it! There were four books in the series and I am not sure of what its called but one of the books was called Twilight, which I bought. I am on Chapter 5 and I am really liking it!!
I have also cofounded a bookclub and I am so excited.
It might just be bigger than Oprah's. ;)

Gross

While driving home tonight, a car pulled up next to Jenn and I at a traffic light. We looked over and the entire back seat and passenger seat was FILLED with trash. It was so tightly packed in there. It was all loose trash and looked like fast food cups and wrappers. It was completely disgusting. The driver could not see out his back window and it was really dangerous. We were in amazement and somewhat scared of seeing this. So weird!
I can't imagine how the inside of that car must have smelled like. EW!

Book Boredom

Over the summer I always tend to tell myself that I will read a bunch of books; since I will have a lot of free time.
This plan never works out. Last year, I met this very interesting couple at work who was friends with this restauranteur in NYC. And I went out and bought his book. It was very interesting! Well the first half that is. I never finished it. I also bought a book because it was like $4 and figured I could read that. I didn't.
This year, I started off my summer season with Perks of Being A Wallflower, which I read in three days and loved it. Thanks to the recommendation of Stevie. While in LA, I asked Stevie of a good book to read while there, since I figured I'd be on the beach and wanted some reading material. So he told me about Invisible Monsters, which I bought at the UCLA bookstore and started right away. I didn't finish it until like last week. I bought it at the end of May. It took soo long for me to finish it. Not that I wasn't into the book but because I would look at the book sitting there and think, I'm not in the mood. :/
So now as the summer winds down, I am in search of another book. I have had a couple recommendations but I am skeptical about some of their synopses (sp?).
I am into reading stories with a lot of intrigue and thought provoking.
Any suggestions???

PS. I do not wish to read Harry Potter right now. LOL

Nobody's Home

My whole body feels so sore and I am so tired. Granted, I woke up at 5 AM today and worked till 12, but seriously I've done that so many times I should not be this tired.
I am hoping that I am not falling ill. However, getting out of work earlier than the 27th would be great. Just the fact that it'd be for being sick isn't great.
I get that empty feeling sometimes.
Where you just feel like there is nothing there and somebody's knocking on your door but nobody's home.
I guess I should be glad there is someone to be knocking in the first place.

New Moosik!

Every now and then, I will download/buy new music and go on a spree and get a whole bunch of new artists and songs at once. Well I recently have added some new music to my library.

Well to start off I went and saw Mamma Mia and loved it. Naturally, I had to get the soundtrack, so my friend made a copy of the play's soundtrack and I had to get some of the movie songs too. I love when Christine Baranski and Meryl Streep "dig" their voices in the songs.
My friend also burned me a copy of Martha Stewart's Nap Time album....Yes...I am serious. LOL
I love quiet and mellow music especially when I am sleeping. I have a sleep playlist on my iPod so I put all of those on there. There is a cover of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" that is really good.

Omg. Then at Target last week, I saw these Target albums where were themed like Dance or Espresso. They were 75% off so I got each of them for $2.50. The first one was Dance: Groove and I thought it would be upbeat and techno-esque.  It is not what I expected. It is like very sensual and does not induce dancing. "Lay It Down" and "Head Rush" are some sample song titles. Whoa.
The other one I bought was labeled Espresso: Breakfast in Bed. I had to get this, one because it was coffee related and two because it reminded me of having breakfast in bed on a sunny Sunday morning being all cozy. So it was impulse buying at its best.

My last set of new music is some songs from the Shelter soundtrack. I bought them off iTunes and didn't buy the whole thing but the ones that I loved; mainly the ones by Shane Mack. I just love his voice and the music is so.....sad. I hate to admit but I got all teary eyed while driving into work the other morning. I couldn't help it. Note: These were also added to my Sleep playlist.

But otherwise that is all.

PS. That picture is in my newly built Ikea desk chair named Allak. Moses just didn't quite cut it for me.

Posters!

These are some posters I recently found on Allposters.com and I really love them. I want to buy them all, however, they will cost a lot and are not necessary. lol

1. This first one is just something that fits me so well and would likely be on the wall of my coffee shop to make guests aware that I have attitude and I am not afraid to use it.

2. The second poster has great colors and the fade adds so much character. The deep reds, blues, and beiges make me feel all cozy. With the saying "Is there life before coffee?" is just perfect for me. Because seriously, I fail to see life without coffee.

3. This third one is not a poster but a magnet.  It is how I feel in the morning especially when working. If I don't drink my coffee before I serve people I have such attitude and it starts my morning off rotten.  Most other mornings I can wake up over a longer period of time and will not have the intention of killing you. ;)

4. "Share A Random Moment" This is classic, it really is. Two cups of coffee with the implication for two people to randomly grab a cup of coffee and make a memory. I love love love having a random coffee moment at my local Starbucks or at a nice little coffee shop with a friend.

5. This poster has nothing to do with coffee but it is a wall tapestry. I believe its like 3 or 4 feet wide. It's colors are gorgeous and their contrast is even greater. The craziness of the curls tell me that life can be a little crazy and off balance but it can still be cheerful and exciting, shown by the bright reds, orangey yellows, and baby blues.

Those are just a few favorites I found. What are you opinions on them??

Dinner Partayyy

So here is my update on my dinner party!:

Twas a success and everything went pretty well. I originally declared a semi-casual dress code and everybody followed directions. lol
Note: When I have a function, I get strict and have high expectations of people to follow directions and be respectful. I may sound crazy, but if I say it starts at 5:30 do not come at 5 or come at 6:30. It's 5:30. Plus, It is a DINNER party, so expect food, so don't eat before coming.

The menu I had thought of the day before and bought the stuff for it and it's so hard when you can't be really creative and funky with the menu because you don't know what people like to eat. And I would hate to have made something and have people want to eat it. But then again I can't satisfy everybody's needs.
SO I made the mini pizzas with the whole wheat dough which came out AMAZING. I was so proud of it. The sauce for the pasta was light but it was kind of bland in my opinion. It needed someone extra and I couldn't think of it.
For dessert I randomly created something that day because I had no clue on what to make.
I took some crushed graham crackers, oatmeal, and butter as a bottom crust. Then topped it with brownie mix including walnuts and chocolate chips. I sprinkled coconut on top then swirled in come cake batter. After baking, I frosted and sprinkled it. It was pretty good, surprisingly. lol

But I love doing things like this and I am glad people showed up and had a good time. Despite it starting to rain on us. :/

PS. The people in the picture above are all that came minus Me. Left to Right: Helene, Jen, Renee, Jenn, Joey, and Brielle.
PSS. Thanks to Helene for being my Sous Chef and helping cook. :D

All I Need Is One Shot...

I am having a dinner party tomorrow night. I need to create a menu. I am usually really good at whipping things up and having them be amazing.
I am off to the store to grocery shop.
Wish me luck.

PS. I will update afterwards with my final menu.

UPDATE:
I am making homemade mini pizzas with a wheat crust and fresh basil and mozzarella, then roasted chicken with broccoli and tomatoes over pasta in a light white wine cream sauce and a light salad on the side. Desert is still up in the air. :/

Phone Phailure

During today's events, my phone had a hard crash with wet pavement and is now crippled forever, pictured above. You can probably see the crack in the screen. The touch feature still works on the outer screen but the visible LCD screen part is totally ruined. You can see my beautiful Malibu Beach overlook background destroyed by the black multicolor mess of a crack.

So you might be wondering how this happened.
Well...
During my golf tournament I was at, I was driving up a small hill to the parking lot with Jenn in the passenger seat. I was on the phone with my golf team member in my left hand. PS. It had just downpoured for three hours previously. Jenn decides we need to go right so she jerks the wheel and my phone goes flying out of my left hand slamming into the wet pavement.  The battery falls out and I turn it on to a total disaster.
Good news is that I am getting a replacement phone shipped to me in a few days. Jenn was nice enough to pay the replacement fee.
That was the crazy part of my day and helped my PMS'ing mood step up two levels of bitchiness to almost a tearing pity party but was saved by a Grande Caffe Vanilla Light Frappuccino.

Mini Vacation & Major Tan

SO, if you can't notice from this picture, I got some sun these past few days. And you might be able to see a hint of Raccoon Eyes. lol
I wore sunglasses a lot and these caused the tan difference around my eyes. But otherwise my few days were nice.
I did get annoyed with my parents and they thought I was totally bored. Which at times, I was, but otherwise I just wanted to relax.
I was able to sit at the beach for a bit during the day and at night. I think nighttime was my favorite though.
Even though I was like the only single person on the beach, I parked near an empty spot and just curled up in my hoodie and sweatshorts and listened to the waves and feel the seabreeze against my skin. The cooled sand felt good against my skin and gave me a chill.
I also happily enjoyed a banana split that was TO DIE FOR. It was one scoop Pirate Pandamonium (PB ice cream with fudge swirl and chocolate covered pretzels) and one scoop Birthday Cake ice creams with real whipped cream, hot fudge, fresh strawberries, walnuts, and a banana. And OMG it was fantastic.
I didn't do much shopping but that's probably a good thing.
So after a few days without using much sunscreen, I am more tan and just a tad relaxed.

PS. My internet escape wasn't as nice as I had thought but it was worth a shot.
